The Makery Market is a unique, mission-driven boutique focused on joyful items made and curated in Central PA. This collective showcases the area’s dynamic local creatives and enhances downtown State College while providing a nurturing job-training environment for young women transitioning out of foster care.
These bright, determined young women – called Market Apprentices - work alongside dedicated volunteers to learn professional skills and to gain valuable work experience. Volunteers and Apprentices also gather regularly to celebrate birthdays and other milestones, crafting a tight-knit, intergenerational community of warmth and stability.
The Makery Market is a sister space to The Makery, a vibrant non-profit community art studio located in the heart of downtown State College where creativity and community thrive. The Makery runs an additional free, family-friendly studio space, The Makery at The Museum, in neighboring Bellefonte, Pennsylvania located within the Bellefonte Art Museum.
